The
Rockless QRP
Setting Frequency Offset
Here
is a method that works very well for setting the frequency offset on your
ROCKLESS Transceiver.
(Last
Revised 11/4/2010)
1. Turn on your communication
transceiver which has digital frequency readout.
Set it for CW operaton.
2. Make sure you have the
antenna or a 50 ohm load on the Rockless.
3. Set the ROCKLESS so the
LED is lighted. (short tap on the button switch)
4. Key the transmitter and
tune your communications receiver to
zero beat the transmitter frequency. (green
light goes out when transmitting.)Jot down the transmitters zero beat frequency
you read on you communications receiver..
5. Now without changing the Rockless tuning dial, tune down in frequency on your communication’s
receiver to pick up the zero beat
of the receiver oscillator. If it is not
700 or 800 Hz below the
transmitter zero beat, adjust the green shift
frequency trimmer capacitor located next to the LED.
6. Repeat the process, until
you get as close as you can to 800 Hz between the transmit frequency at zero
beat and the receiver oscillator at zero beat. The Receiver oscillator
frequency should, of course, be the lower frequency.
